The Internet offers a lot of advice. Some of it is good, a lot of it is bad and most of it is just a bunch of stuff you already knew in the first place. In combing through the various sites about diverse topics, you’ll see bodies of contradictory text being expounded upon by armies of uninformed and misinformed commenters. This makes it pretty hard to for a solid opinion on anything. The one thing you can be sure about however, is that anything the IRS website says, it means. There isn’t a lot of mincing words in that organization, and when they say they’ll come after you with an IRS tax lien, you may want to keep that in the forefront of your mind.
